Review: Fisher Price Newborn to Toddler Rocker

When we first looked at these Fisher Price Precious Planet Newborn to Toddler Rockers I thought that £65 each was quite expensive. We thought initially that we might buy one chair for Esther and William to share but I am so glad now that we bought the two as they do come in very handy indeed and we use them all of the time. Both of them!

When Esther and William first came home from hospital these chairs were in newborn rocking mode in their nursery and when I could not settle them in their crib or our bed I would rock them to sleep in their chairs. Sometimes I would put them in one chair together when they were really tiny and they used to love snuggling up together. Often I would put the chairs facing each other but they were too young at this stage to really pay much attention to one another. Esther in particular used to love the vibrations on the chair and they used to soothe her to sleep as an alternative to rocking. When the babies were awake I used to put the toy bars on to the rockers and the babies would watch the plastic animals and play with them once there arms were long enough to reach!

I would also use these chairs to put the babies in the bathroom to allow me to have a shower. Most times that I did this both Esther and William would fall asleep in their chair.

As the babies grew in size and ability to stay awake I used to sit them in their rockers and sing to them or read to them. Having them in their seats meant that they could both watch my face or see the pictures in a book.

As the babies grew more we decided to bring the chairs downstairs into the lounge and to use them as feeding chairs. They are great for this purpose as they are sturdy, a good height and so very easy to clean. The soft padding on the chair is all machine washable which is great for busy Mums. Once into non rocking mode we also started using the seats as television chairs. The babies would sit for 10 minutes before or after dinner and watch Baby Einstein together. They loved it!
Now the chairs are still in the lounge and used for feeding and TV but also they let Esther and William have a seat when we have visitors so that they can pretend to be like the grownups! I am sure that they will appreciate this more as they move toward toddlerdom. I am certain the chairs will continue to have multiple uses that we have not discovered yet.

These chairs would definitely now be one of our top baby buys.

  1. I love Fisher Price everything! I was raised as a Fisher Price baby and have used tons of FP products for both of my babies from bottles to rockers to toys – they’re fab quality and so colourful and imaginative. We have most of the Rainforest Range and about half of the Precious Planets! We’re currently loving all the Precious Planet baby books too, Beanie Boy gets really excited when I get them out.

    Fab photo montage too x
