Are We Ready?

Things are getting desperate in the notebook department.  This is now David’s old Spanish book from years ago!

Today has started well.  Elizabeth had the twins overnight.  She says that they were good but Esther was very vocal, demanding her feeds, very loudly!  William apparently slept through it all and Elizabeth said that we need to make sure that William does not always come second to Esther, as she will be the most noticeable and demand to be fed first.  I don’t think that we will let that happen as we are already so aware of their characters and potential situations they may bring.  I love them both so much!

David and I are hoping to room in at the weekend to get 24 hour breastfeeding established.  Today both babies are demand feeding with a four hourly limit.  William is continuing to have half top ups through his tube but Esther is on her own!  Pure demand feeding!

I am not trying to express during the day unless I get uncomfortable or too full for easy feeding.

Both babies fed well this morning.  Esther at 7.30am and William at 8.30am so their limits are now 11.30am and 12.30pm.  The feeding plan does seem to be working as Esther lost just 5 grams and William gained 10! He now weighs 2.11kg.  Clever boy!

Both babies fed again before the doctors’ round, Esther just before 11.30am and William just after.  I took William to the expressing room during the round to finish his feed and for a snuggle.  It was lovely!

As long as there are no emergencies/admissions between now and tomorrow night, David and I will definitely be rooming in tomorrow.  Our first night with our babies!

Last night I finally ordered some clothes from the new H&M website.  I also ordered some bits for the babies with my child benefit … a tummy time mat, an egg thermometer for the playroom, a jungle clock for the nursery, two glowing musical seahorses and a nursing top for me.  I am sure there was something else but I can’t remember what.  They have so much stuff already!

Both babies have been feeding well today.  This afternoon they both woke for food at about the same time so I fed William a bit, then Esther, then William again and Esther again.  Esther is not very good at waiting!

Caroline showed me the room where the Charing Henleys will be spending the weekend.  It is actually very nice.  It has a bath / changing station for the babies and an ensuite for us.  It is going to be a good few days with our babies, practising for home.  I can’t wait!

But I am worried that home is not ready, that we are not ready.  Are we ready?
