We have survived our first night!  I think that I got about two hours sleep.

William was struggling to settle.  He fed 8 times between 7pm and 8am, and had 4 dirty nappies!  Esther fed 4 times and also had 4 dirty nappies.  Esther was definitely the better of the two.  She was much quieter and fed better, slept better.  We were expecting it to be the other way around.

William was very wakeful all night and I think that he will have lost a lot of weight.  Hopefully he will have a better night tonight.  Bless him.  He slept well enough when he was being cuddled by us and in fact my best sleep was when he was laying on me. 

So our first night with our babies and we all survived!

David was helpful but very sleepy.

The nurse and doctors have been this morning to our room.  The doctor is happy for us to go home on Sunday or Monday. 

I feel quite emotional about leaving.  I will miss everyone so much.  People have been so kind and have done so much for us over the last couple of months.  I will miss them all but particularly Diane, Louise, Almira, Dorota, Elizabeth and Caroline.  And Jo and Tina too.  Although it has been a tough time I have also had a laugh and felt like I was a part of something here.  I hope that we will stay in touch somehow.  We can come and visit when we have clinic and the first time we will bring some Christmas goodies as it will be at that time of year.

We have been given consent forms for the twins’ hearing screening and they may have their first baby immunisations today.  It is all getting so real!  I just hope that we do not fail at the last hurdle.  There is so much that could go wrong – infection, cough/cold, reaction to immunisations?!?!

William has been a bit funny today.  He has been screaming in his sleep, struggling and straining with wind and not really sleeping.  I think that he will have lost weight, a lot of weight come tomorrow.  Bless him!

Tomorrow David and I have to watch the Resuscitation DVD.

The twins will have their immunisations tomorrow and possibly their hearing tests.  It is all getting very real now.  As long as nothing goes wrong we will soon be taking our babies home!
