Ashford Baby Fair

Going to the Fair!

Today I went along to the first ever Ashford Baby Fair.

It was held in a local recreation centre and had good parking facilities. I was not able to fit my double buggy into the hall so thankfully I had David’s Mum with me to carry one of the twins.

It was quite a small event but definitely worth a visit. It enabled me to meet the leaders of different baby classes in our area and get to know more about what they offer.

Esther and William already attend Baby Sensory and now we have some new classes in our diary for after Easter.

As soon as Esther and William are more confident at sitting up unaided we will be going along to Gym Babes. I am very excited about this as I think that it will really help them to fine tune their motor skills. As the babies were so premature I know that their motor skills could be a cause for concern in the future and so I think an early start at something like gymnastics is a good thing to do.

We will also be starting Jo Jingles Music and Movement programme. I am very excited about this. Because Esther and William are between 3 and 9 months they get 6 sesions for free at Jo Jingles in Ashford. I think music is so important to children’s development, it allows them to be creative and also be disciplined and learn social skills. This will be a brilliant class for Esther and William.

The best find by far for me though at the Ashford Baby Fair was Bumpkins Baby Massage. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time now and the Health Visitor was supposed to do some with me a few months ago but she never did. I have never taken Esther and William to classes because of the risk of infection from mixing with other babies (because of their prematurity). This company is fabulous as they will come to me in my home and work with me and the babies at home. I am so so excited. We start our 5 week course on Tuesday 12th April and I am going to blog about our experiences here. The 5 week course costs £50 which I think is such good value. Have a look at their website to see what the course involves.

So for a quick half an hour out I gathered lots of information that will help to make mine and the babies lives brighter. We have discovered lots of learning and development opportunities that will get us out of the house and mixing with other Mums and babies. I think it was a great idea to have all of these organisations under one roof for new Mummies to come and find.

Lets hope that Lil’ Loves will continue to organise events and get the local community and groups involved.

  1. We’ve been going to Baby Sensory & GymBabes for a while now & they’re both terrific. In fact Jake took his first step at the end of a GymBabes session, & Ellie walked for the 1st time that evening. I’m planning my next post to be about GymBabes.

Sadly they’ve had their last BabySensory session as they’re now ‘too old’: imagine!

I hadn’t heard of JoJingles but it looks great, & there’s 1 for toddlers near us on a free day: thanks for that!
