New Mummy Wish List

Today I am 38+2 and am impatiently waiting the arrival of my daughter. Even David is getting impatient now so I know that the birth must be close.

Whilst the twins are sleeping I thought I would indulge in a bit of online window shopping and create a wish list of gifts I would like as a new Mummy.

You never know, someone lovely may see the list and buy a me a little something. More likely it may give other people inspiration for the new mummies they know in their lives.

I think every new Mummy deserves a gift of some kind for surviving pregnancy and birth. Just a token, to complement the best present of all, a Baby!

I asked my Twitter family what their best presents have been and got some fabulous answers.

Ruth from RocknRollerBaby says that cooked food was the best present that she recieved. Lauren from RealHousewifeinSuffolk stuck with a foodie theme saying that her best gifts were Stilton, pate and prawn cocktail. A forbidden foods hamper seems like a wonderful idea and I have a feeling that one of my friends may have requested something similar from her husband. For me I have planned my coming home dinner to be pizza adorned with lashings of Parma ham!!!

Toilteries are a favourite gift and spa vouchers add something a little more in this area.

Helena from MummyMode says that her best gift was a pair of Cath Kidston pyjamas that allowed her to rest and recoup in luxury. What a wonderful idea though for me would be a pair of Melba Maternity / Nursing pyjamas. I am totally in love with mine and would love a second pair!

So what else is on my New Mummy Wish List?

@steph-reisha27 shared on Twitter that her other half bought her a charm bracelet with a pram charm which has reminded me that I have been lusting after a Links of London charm bracelet for a long time now. I thought I might have liked one as a wedding gift but what a beautiful new mummy present it would be. I do not really wear jewellery and certainly have stopped since becoming a Mummy so perhaps this would not be such a good gift for me. Instead …

I love this silver flower nursing necklace from Mama Jewels. I have been lucky enough to review a necklace from Mama Jewels which I loved. This silver flower necklace is so pretty and would compliment any outfit. A perfect gift for a breastfeeding Mummy.

I collect Demdaco Willow Tree Figurines and already have a twins one. I would love the ‘Mother and Daughter’ statue as a new addition for my set.

I love this Congratulations Mummy Kit from Boo Boo. The kit contains a rose scented bath soak, a miracle body oil and a body smoother to help Mummy find her way back to being herself rather than a baby grower. Boo Boo products offer totally natural pampering products for Mummy and Baby too.

Because I think a new Mummy deserves some special time to be pampered I also have The Little Bag of MamaBliss on my list. This includes a lush healing bath soak, some uplifting oil for when things all get too much and a soothing Mummy Baby Balm which is great for sore or cracked nipples, chapped skin and baby ailments such as cradle cap and eczema.

This one is something you might buy your best friend. It could be accompanied by a rubber ring (as suggested on Twitter by Sarah from Buggy Snuggle) and I am certain it would be well received, Post Partum Bottom Spray – bliss in a bottle! This is available from Scamps and Scallywags who sell a range of ethically produced gifts for new mummies and mummies to be. They also sell adorable baby clothes which I will talk about more in my Gifts For Newborns post. In the meantime you can browse their website for yourself and if you follow them on Twitter you can get 20% off any orders placed with the code TWEET20.

I love this Hey Diddle Diddle Cookie Bouquet from Best Baby Shower. I am not much of one for flowers but an edible bouquet? What a fab idea! And with the nursery rhyme theme would be great to share with Esther and William who are fans not only of rhymes but also of cookies!

An original Cuddle Dry apron towel. I always wanted one of these to use with Esther and William but never did get one and they are in toddler poncho towels now. This is great for keeping Mummy and Baby warm and dry after the bath. A fabulous product. A practical gift.

Other practical gifts might include a Mama Scarf for a breastfeeding Mummy and a Baba Sling. I love both of these products and already own two Mama Scarfs which I bought at The Baby Show. I cannot wait to use them and feel that they will be perfect for feeding discretely in the summer months when I may just be wearing a camisole style top.

The Baba Sling
is a product that I have so far only coveted from afar. I am very lucky that I am being sent a sling to review with Matilda Bump so watch this space for updates about our adventures with this innovative sling.

theBabaSling baby carrier is a revolution in design, comfort and simplicity. The hammock style baby sling is perfectly shaped to support a newborn’s developing spine, while providing essential closeness and bonding between parent and child

For fashion loving mummies I love the ‘Just Nipping Out Set’ from Ruby and Ginger . I can think of a few mummies to be that I know that this would be the perfect gift for. With a nappy purse, changing mat and wpes holder it allows you to keep all your baby essentials inside an every day bag. The fabrics to choose from are divine and the quality of these products is first class. Watch out for a full review of some of Ruby and Ginger‘s key products coming soon.

I actually already have a Snugglebundl but would definitely recommend it as a present for any new Mummy to share with her newborn babe. The Snugglebundl is a baby lifting blanket. You can read my review of it here.

These are the things that I think would be top of a wish list for me. I have a couple of special posts coming up about particular products for mummy and baby to share and also a wish list for newborns. So please do follow the blog to see what our suggestions and wishes are.

I am also creating a list of ideas for sibling gifts so that Esther and William do not feel left out when new baby arrives.

Such an exciting time, a time for celebration, topped with the greatest gift of all, a beautiful new baby girl. I am so so excited to meet her. Hopefully we will not be kept waiting too long x
