Meal Planning Monday 5:2

This week I am joining in with Mrs M’s Meal Planning Monday as David and I begin a new diet after being inspired by BBC Horizon. The program showed a range of diets that would help you to not only lose weight but also improve your health, longevity of life and reduce your risk of things like cancer and heart disease.

The idea behind the plan is that you eat what you like for 5 days each week and then fast for 2. The fasting is a limited calorie intake rather than nothing at all. Men must eat no more than 600 calories and women 500. I am allowing myself a little flexibility as I am breastfeeding Matilda and do not want to compromise her diet.

So here is our meal plan for the week, the first of 5 and 2.

Monday
Cheerios with skimmed milk
Chicken and Vegetable Cup a Soup, TUC biscuit and yoghurt with oat bran
Asparagus Cup a Soup, TUC biscuit and 2 jaffa cakes

Today I have to admit that I cheated. I had a large bowl of Cheerios for breakfast and then over the course of the day I added two more Jaffa cakes and a fig roll to my consumption. At times I really did feel hungry and other times I think I wanted food out of habit. Have a cup of tea, have a biscuit type thing. I need to be more disciplined as the diet moves on.

Tuesday
Cheerios with skimmed milk
Out for lunch at my best friend’s house
Prawn and Vegetable Spaghetti (sugar snaps, spinach, tomatoes, chillies and mushrooms) sprinkled with parmesan cheese

Wednesday
