Meeting Some Very Special Brit Mummies

I met Matilda Mae just the once in her all too short life. Like many other members of Jennie’s online community I met her at Brit Mums Live. I had a little dress for her which was far too big for her at that point but was something she could grow in to – I remember the photos of her wearing it and she looked beautiful. I was so lucky to get a little cuddle with her, which turned into almost an hour snuggling as she slept contentedly in my arms. She was such a gorgeous happy baby and she has her loving parents and siblings to thank for that.

News of her death has left me shattered and heart broken, as it did so many of us, but nothing compared to what Jennie, David, Esther and William go through each day. I am so so sorry for their loss. I remember a tweet from Jennie within the first week or so following Matilda’s death saying how she regretted always talking about taking a bath with Matilda but never getting around to it. I’ve been saying for ages that I’d get in the bath with my son Alistair who is almost two and a half. I now do it. Every Saturday night without fail I am in that bath with my gorgeous little boy. Every Saturday I am remembering a beautiful little girl who was taken from her family too soon.

Sleep tight Matilda Mae. You will never be forgotten.
