It Has Happened Again

The scent of a freshly cut sweet pea

Sharp suits and floral dresses

Bowed heads and hushed voices

It is happening again

A black car

A white coffin

A community united in grief

A family torn apart

Left to try and make sense of a nonsensical world

Death has struck again

With his scythe

He swoops among us

Wielding his axe on random heads

Far too young

Far too beautiful

Far too special

Far too soon

It has happened again

And it feels like the loss is mine all over again

Heaven is too full of angels

Snatched from Earth

With so much still to live

Heaven is too full of angels

The evil that is death

Too young cruel death

Has happened again

I am crying tears for a woman I do not know

A family I have never met

As their loss and pain reignites the burning searing flames of my own

One step forward and so many heavy hearted steps back

Because it has happened again.

β€œAll we ever see of stars are their old photographs.”
― Alan Moore, Watchmen

I’m feeling low tonight.

  1. This poem will help many I’m sure. To know that they are not alone. And as you feel alone Jennie, do remember that MM is now accompanied by one more angel. x

  2. Oh Jennie, the world can be such a terribly cruel place and, this year, I’ve heard nothing but tragic stories from friends, family and acquaintances lately. I really think 2013 is living up to it’s name πŸ™ I’ve had the house move and no internet wrapping me up in a little bubble but my heart still breaks for everyone constantly. Sending you love and thoughts xx

  3. I cannot change the strange workings of our world but i can send you a hug and say I’m looking forward to seeing you this weekend and hopefully we’ll have a nice sunny time with a lot of smiling xx
