MADS 2014 Best Pregnancy Blog: The Final Five

Today I would like to take some time to introduce you to the Final Five

The finalists in the MAD Blog Awards

For Best Pregnancy Blog

I think to most people they will need no introduction

The Final Five!

Circus Queen
For me, Adele at Circus Queen is the mummy I would most like to be. So calm, so creative. Adele writes beautifully about pregnancy, breastfeeding and gentle parenting. She is passionate about baby wearing too. Her blog is full of inspiration and ideas for enjoying a positive pregnancy. Adele’s is another blog that has been tough for me to read because of Matilda Mae and my own miscarriage but I do love to read Circus Queen now I am growing my rainbow. Thank you Adele for writing so positively about pregnancy and parenting. I think you are a wonderful writer and a beautiful mother.

It Started With a Squish
I have a confession. I adore Danni’s blog and over the last week I have fallen in love with Baby Eleanor. I have also fallen head over heels in love with the Snuzpod with a Toddlepod nestled inside, but that is a whole other story!

Danni writes in a really warm tone that makes you instantly like her and want to know more about her. It Started With A Squish has been a hard read for me at times. Danni’s pregnancy became public as I was waiting to miscarry. I did not read it until I knew I was pregnant again myself and then I devoured her pages. I love her bump photos, I love her style and I love the way that she writes. And there is something endearing about this girl who loves gifs

Me, The Man and the Baby
I have to admit that Emma’s blog is one I do not read. It is just too hard as her little boy is so very close in age to Baby Tilda. Then with Charlotte being born so close to the anniversary of Tilda’s death and funeral, it has all just been too hard. But I know that this is a popular, well respected, informative pregnancy blog. I know that Emma writes passionately about all things pregnancy, breastfeeding and baby. Please go and read Emma’s journey for yourself and meet the beautiful Baby Charlotte.

Mum’s The Word
Jayne and I share a beautiful friend in Susanne from Ghostwriter Mummy. Jayne is lovely and her brand new daughter, June, is very special too. Jayne writes openly about pregnancy, birth trauma, gestational diabetes and PTSD. I love the community feel of Jayne’s blog, her crowd sourced posts are always popular and full of top tips. I have met Jayne and she is lovely, please read her blog and follow her journey as a mummy of two.

Edspire
This is me!!

And here I am

Pregnant for the fourth time in four years

Premature twins born at 27 weeks in 2010

Full term baby girl born in 2012, died in 2013

Miscarriage 2013

Rainbow pregnancy

NOW!!

growing rainbow

The other four finalists all now have beautiful healthy babies

All girls

I am only just half way through my pregnancy

But it is not my first pregnancy in the qualifying period for this award

And that is why I wanted to be a finalist in this category

That is why I wanted Edspire to be here

A finalist for Best Pregnancy Blog 2014

I do not want to win

I know that these four beautiful mummies deserve this award more than me

I am not in it to win it

I am in it to be a voice

For all those parents who do not get to bring their babies home

A voice for the 1 in 4 ladies who lose their babies to miscarriage

A voice for those whose babies are born silently

Born sleeping

I want to be a voice for charities

Who are working so hard

To make pregnancy easier, safer

To save little lives

I want to shout out about monitoring fetal movements

I want to make people get checked for Vasa Praevia

I want people to understand that pregnancy after loss is hard

So hard

I do not expect you to vote for me

But I want you to know who I am

I want you to read my words

Share the messages that might just save lives

And then I would like you to go and vote

For one of the other four fine finalists

Thank you x

  1. Jennie, thank you so much for what you’ve said about me and my blog here. I think you see both in ways that I struggle to. I’ve been incredibly uplifted by just reading this after a tough night with a newborn and tricky wake up with a toddler. I’m sorry my blog hasn’t always been an easy read for you though I can certainly see why it’s been difficult. It’s wonderful to be in your company in this category. As you said, it’s important that you’re here with your rainbow baby. I’m also really looking forward to hopefully seeing you at the MAD Blog Awards ceremony!
