Fairy Week: Fairy Food Fun

First of all I must start by saying that Fairy Week has morphed into Fairy Fortnight

Esther and William are enjoying it so much and also with our focus on getting through a first ever full time week at school

None of us have been ready for anything new

Last Friday was our fun with food day

Our fun with fairy food day

We made fairy cakes, bug biscuits and best of all, ate fairy bread!

When Esther and William came home from school they found the table laid.

White bread, butter, honey, jam, Nutella and magical fairy sprinkles.

Esther was really involved with the making process of the fairy bread. William just wanted to eat it!

fairy starry bread

First we buttered two slices of white bread

Then we cut off the crusts

Next we chose which shape cut out we would like on the bread

We all chose stars!

After this we added our chosen filling

We all chose Nutella!

After that we put the sandwich together and sprinkled that magical fairy dust onto the cut out

Finally we tasted the wonderful flavours of fairy bread!

Delicious!

Magical!

Inspired by the wonder and prettiness of our fairy bread

And the fact that it was Mummy’s birthday weekend

We decided to make some fairy cakes and biscuits

Ami from Beebies Baby Store

Took the role of Head Baker with Esther working hard as her Sous Chef

Esther had a wonderful time with Ami

Listening to the instructions that she was given

And being really focused on doing a good job

Mixing, adding, stirring, pouring

Esther loved it, the process, the messiness!

We needs to do more baking at home

She enjoys it so much

The cakes were from a ready mix pack

So they were easy to make

Ami helped Esther to make up some butter icing

And they decorated the cakes with sprinkles and fairy toppers

After all her hard work it was only fair that Esther got to lick the bowl

But of course William was allowed to join in too!

The final things that we made were

Chocolate Giggle Biscuits from Sweet Pea Pantry

We decided to use bug cookie cutters

As we thought they might be found in a fairy garden

Fairies are always friends with minibeasts

Esther loved helping making the dough

Rolling it out and cutting the shapes

It was so easy to do

And the finished biscuits were delicious

As well as being good for you

I am going to tell you more about Sweet Pea Pantry very soon

I have a long overdue review to write up

And I have just ordered there healthy flapjacks and pizza bases!

But for now please watch this

Food has been a fun part of our fairy week

Though our baking is often more like messy play

Esther in particular loves the process

And we all enjoy eating the biscuits, bread and cake

Yummy!

  1. Love the fairy bread, will make this with my boy. He finds normal sandwiches boring but I think he would love them like this 🙂 xx
