On The First Day of Advent

Today is the first day of advent

The day we begin counting down

Counting the sleeps til Christmas

Esther and William are at school for the morning

After lunch they will come home to find that their festive friends have delivered their festive fun box

festive fun 2

Inside the box they will find

An advent candle

Marshmallows, for eating and sensory play

Frozen stickers and bubbles

Some sparkly Play Doh

Soft toys to snuggle

Jingle bells to ring

A biscuit decorating set

A hot chocolate kit

Some Christmas books

Their WOW Advent calendars

Some Christmas pyjamas and party clothes

Festive films including The Snowman

and a letter from their festive friends promising them much more fun throughout the season

festive fun one

The festive friends live through the magic door in our skirting board

And each morning throughout advent they will leave something new to do

Something to read, something to eat, something to make, something to share

The plan is to build up a sense of awe and wonder

To spark Esther and William’s imagination

And also to teach them a little about the true spirit of Christmas

Through stories and poems and activities

Through acts of kindness and giving

I am hoping that our advent will be filled with festive family fun

Which will inspire awe and wonder, knowledge and understanding

  1. How lovely-I’ve been so bad this year and forgot to even get the advent calendar out-we have been so busy lately with our birthday’s, Alex’s birthday party yesterday and moving soon I completely forgot it was December today-think it might be a double chocolate day once I get the calendar out of the Christmas box!! Last year I kept a box of Christmas stories and activity/colouring books by the Christmas trees but having done any elf on the shelf bits or anything similar-I think it might stress me out a little as I am so forgetful these days! xx

  2. Wow, I love your ‘Little fairy door’ and the fact your have put it in the skirting board.

What a lovely idea of the box for the twins.

Hope you have lots of fun.

    Sa xXx
