My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Book Review and Giveaway

I was born in 1976

In 1986 aged 10

I went to the cinema in Gillingham, Medway

To see the brand new My Little Pony movie

I was wearing a My Little Pony t-shirt

As was my sister age 7

We went with our mum

And on leaving the cinema were given a paper hat

And some puppet type colouring in things

I do not really remember the film

But I remember that we went

And being so very happy about it

And with my paper treasure

My favourite My Little Pony was Moonshine

My sister loved Apple Jack

Fast forward 30 years

And my own 7 year old daughter

Is My Little Pony mad

Not as mad as she might be if I did not limit her viewing

My Little Pony has changed since my day!

While we do not watch it very much on television

We do read the books

Which are surprisingly well written

And have a moral to each tale

Esther was so excited

When we were sent a bundle of books

From Egmont Publishers

To coincide with the release of the new movie

Which I will take Esther to see one day

And William too

As he hangs on every word of any story

And does like to watch My Little Pony

We have all been enjoying the books

And would like to tell you a little more about them

My Little Pony Movie Storybook
This is the book that Esther asked to have first

We read it together

As we have not seen the film

It was our first taste of the story

It was our first introduction to The Storm King and Commander Tempest

These are the baddies the Mane Six

Have to beat to protect Ponyville

On their adventure beyond Equestria

They are almost sold to the circus

Meet parrot pirates

Befriend sea ponies

And try to steal a magical pearl

They learn together

The magic and power of friendship

The story is well told

We read the whole story in one sitting

Many, many times

Esther loves being read to

She has also started reading to Bea

And I have found them a few times

Snuggled on the sofa together

Reading this book

My Little Pony Movie: Giant Sticker Storybook: with colouring

This is the second book we read

We spent a lot of time comparing this abridged version of the story

With the first retelling

We were also looking at which pictures were the same

And studying any that were different

It was a good illustration of how the same story

Can be told in different ways

But key things remain the same

My Little Pony Movie: Search and Find with Toy
This tells the story in a third way

It shows different pictures

Giving more visual detail to the story

And each page asks you to search the picture

To find different things

This is great fun

And good for developing visual discrimination skills

This book also has a quiz to see how well you know the story

Esther and I have done the quiz a few times now

And are finally getting all the answers right!

My Little Pony Movie: 1000 Sticker Activity Book
This is our least explored book

But it looks to provide a whole host of fun

It is filled to bursting with stickers

And activities

I am sure that we will have hours of fun

Creating pictures with the stickers

And puzzling over the puzzles

We love books like this one

For keeping in our day bag

As something we can get out and do

At cafes or in queues

Or waiting rooms!

We have had such a lovely time exploring these books

Esther loves them all

And has added the mini Commander Tempest figure

To her mini My Little Pony collection

I am going to have to take her to see the film

If you would like to explore these books

With your own My Little Pony fan
