And so it is Christening Eve

Tomorrow is Edie’s day

Though really as she is only 6 months old

She will have no memory of the day

The day is for the rest of us

A chance for family and friends to come together

And catch up

At the heart of the day tomorrow

Will be welcoming Edie to our family and church

And acknowledging that our little family unit is

Most likely (!!)

The morning will be busy

Getting everything ready at the house

We have 30 adults and 20 children coming back here

After church

For an afternoon of fun

The order of service is written

Every hymn and reading chosen by me

It is a service tailored to children

With hymns we will all know from school

I have made activity packs for the children

With wordsearches and colouring

I Spy sheets and quizzes

I hope I have enough pencils to go around!

After church

The plan is to have a sausage sizzle

Sausages in buns with mugs of soup

My beautiful best friend is looking after the hot food for us

Alongside the hot there will be crisps and crudities and dips

Fruit kebabs for the kids

Puddings are being provided by my lovely friend

And Granny

I have set up different play stations for the children

Duplo, Smart Max, cars and car mats

A book corner

A colouring and activity table

Bonfire night themed

Outside there will be giant garden games

Jenga

Connect 4

And Kerplunk!

Inside there will be a baby play area

For Edie and her littlest friends

As night begins to fall

We will have glow sticks and sparklers

Play glow in the dark bowling

We will toast giant marshmallows on the fire pit

Before a firework finale to the day

I think I have remembered everything

Now to try and relax

And enjoy it
