This year we are trading sugar plums for swans
As we excitedly anticipate the
Birmingham Royal Ballet’s touring production of
Swan Lake
Flying in to Sadlers Wells for half term
For me seeing The Nutcracker at The Royal Albert Hall
HAs become a favourite festive tradition
The velvet seats
The dusting of fake snow and
Tchaikovsky’s familiar chimes
Have come to signal Christmas magic continues
After the big day itself
This year however
Birmingham Royal Ballet’s standard winter magic
Is not coming to Lodnon
Instead
Birmingham Royal Ballet is bringing an even grander masterwork to the London stage
Sir Peter Wright and Galina Samsova’s breathtaking production of Swan Lake
This will be running at Sadler’s Wells Theatre
From October 28 to 31, 2026
Bea and I are so excited to be heading to London
To watch this most famous ballet story unfold
We cannot wait to watch this well known tale told
By the dancers of The Birmingham Royal Ballet
And to hear the incredible score
Played by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia
Prince Siegfried is out hunting one night when he happens upon a flock of graceful swans. When one of them turns into a beautiful woman, the Prince is utterly smitten – but Odette explains that she has fallen under an evil spell cast by Baron von Rothbart, which keeps her in swan form from dawn to dusk. Can Siegfried’s love break the spell?
Find out in this exquisite production of a true ballet classic.

Swan Lake is a feast for the soul
We are so looking forwarrd to seeing
BRB tackle the world’s most famous ballet
Swan Lake delivers a soaring tragic romance
Complete with the ultimate battle between good and evil
Betrayal and heartbreak
Watching the BRB corps de ballet
Transform into a seamless, synchronized flock of swans
Under Philip Prowse’s atmospheric gothic staging
Is going to be amazing
The score of Swan Lake is arguably the most powerful
Romantic and haunting music ever written for the theatre
And much of it is instantly recognisable
I know that Bea is going to love this ballet
And also as a young ballerina come away inspired
With dreams of being a swan herself one day
This year we are excited and ready
To trade the snow for the swans and
Experience the sheer power of Birmingham Royal Ballet live at Sadler’s Wells
