Where We Are With The Welly Walk

On 2nd November 2013 we are holding The Matilda Mae Welly Walk at Beale Park in Reading.

The idea is to create a family fun day in memory of Matilda Mae to raise money for The Lullaby Trust but more importantly raise awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and the fact that it can affect older babies and toddlers as well as the very very young.

Matilda Mae was exactly 9 months old when she died, on 2nd November she will have been dead for exactly 9 months, on the third of November she will have been dead for longer than she was alive.

I want to charge £9.99 a ticket for our charity event and I want all of that £9.99 to go to The Lullaby Trust but money is not enough. I want to raise awareness too of SIDS and the charity that works so hard to stop this awful thing in its tracks while supporting grieving, broken families like mine.

If we can sell 200 tickets at £9.99 and give all the money to the charity we can give them £2000 that they so desperately need.

To do this we need to secure sponsorship for the event to ensure all ticket money goes direct to The Lullaby Trust.

And if you sponsor us, what do you get in return?

Lots of coverage on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and other social media channels, links to your business from this and other blogs, a badge on my homepage, promotion through social media from now until Christmas, promotion at the event and more. This is an opportunity to do something good for a small charity who need our help and maybe, just maybe, we might help save some lives.

Please, please help us if you can.

Let me introduce you to some of the people who have agreed to help us so far and share with you the help we still need.

The fabulously talented Schryver Photography will be there to capture the day.

Beebies Baby Store have agreed to sponsor entry to Beale Park for 200 guests.

We are still looking for a company to sponsor one train ride for each guest on the Beale Park Miniature Railway. We thought that this would be best suited to a toy company that produce or sell trains and track. This company as well as all the online promotion and promotion at the event would also have their company logo printed on the ticket and entry information.

We are still looking for a company to sponsor food for the event. Beale Park have their own caterers onsite so we are not asking anyone to cook or provide food, we are asking for a contribution to the costs of the food so that the ticket money can be given straight to the charity. The food sponsor would have their logo printed on the event information and tickets as well as online promotion and printed promos on the day.

We would also like a company to sponsor tea, coffee, hot chocolate and mulled wine for our adult guests. Again this would be a financial contribution as the drinks will be provided by Beale Park catering team.

We are hoping to provide the children with special drinks on the day too.

Zu3D will have an Animation Station at the event where you can come along and try out stop motion animation.

The Rainy Day Box Company will have an Arts and Craft activity room where there will be some star crafts for people to try.

Each and every guest who comes to the event will leave with a balloon and a Matilda Mae wooden star, kindly donated by Beebies Baby Store.

Each guest will also be given an individually wrapped star cake made by the amazing and award winning Charlotte’s Kitchen Diary! I am very excited about this!

Beebies Baby Store will also be running some fun fair games and we hope to have prizes from Beebies and other companies.

Slugs and Snails have donated some of their gorgeous tights for boys as spot prizes for the Toddler Welly Wanging Challenge.

At the end of the day we will have a sparkler farewell and this beautiful part of the event is being sponsored by the awesome Kyna Boutique.

Gymboree will be leading a musical workshop as a warm up to the welly walk and Music With Mummy will be running workshops for children throughout the day.

We also have face painters and storytellers and puppets, toys and books from Barefoot Books.

We are working so hard to make this a magical day, a memorable day and a meaningful day that will make a difference to people’s lives.

Please please help us if you can.

  1. Please count me in, it would be rude if I didn’t attend, for you see its literally on my doorstop Beale Park (we can cycle there from our home just down the road) and we would love to come and support this event my children and I, in memory of your beautiful Matilda Mae, also to raise awareness of this still happening to families losing a loved one to SIDS and help raise money for the lullaby trust x

  2. Putting together a playlist of some great nursery rhymes and popular songs for the music sessions for what looks like an amazing day! I’m really looking forward to taking part – bring your little ones and please come and join me for a music session at some point during the day!
