Pretend Pizza Party with Haba and The Toadstool

This week we have been playing with our food.

Beautiful soft fabric food.

From Haba at The Toadstool.

Esther and William have been creating soft colourful pizzas and serving them up to their festive animal friends.

Penguins have been partial to the fish and the reindeer have both enjoyed chomping on chillies.

Esther and William love to make up pizzas with their favourite toppings and dish them up on to plates and bowls.

They love putting the pretty pretend pizza into their new pretty Plum oven.

From one affordable and simple toy they have both gotten so much pleasure.

Esther and William have two kitchens now, one small one upstairs in their new bedroom and a larger one down in the playroom.

For Christmas they are being given a shop and so play food is very popular in our house.

I have written about play food before on this blog and also over at The Toadstool.

There is so much to be learned through playing with food, both real and pretend.

Mathematical concepts, language development, real life role play, healthy eating

The potential for play with pretend food is exciting.

And I love fabric foods especially for playing in the kitchen upstairs.

Less damage can be done with fabric foods than with a bunch of wooden grapes or trying to flip and fry wooden eggs!

The Haba Play Food Bon Appetit Pizza that we have been enjoying is rather fabulous.

My uncle commented on the fact that it definitely looks like a stuffed crust!

The base is lovely and soft and comes with a range of toppings including sliced onion, anchovies, salami, chillies and tomato.

William’s new favourite thing is tomato and so he was very pleased to find some on his play pizza!

The Haba Pizza is not cheap but as with all the toys from The Toadstool it is an investment piece that looks wonderful on display and can also be used in so many different ways for learning through play and free play.

We have had ours for a little over a week and have already had great value for money. And I know that this is a toy that will last for years and be used by my children as they grow.

For ideas on how to get the most out of playing with pretend food please read my posts here and at The Toadstool.

“The most effective kind of education is that a child should play amongst lovely things.” ~ Plato (Greek philosopher)

If you want to order lovely things for your children this Christmas you can have free shipping and guaranteed Christmas delivery from The Toadstool until Sunday. Go go go!

We were sent two Haba Pizzas for the purpose of this review.

  1. Esther and William are looking so grown up! We are always amazed by how much play value play food has too. Even my two older boys will often have ‘tea parties’ and ‘picnics’ with their cuddly toys and a bunch of play food. xxx
