Easter Activity: Painting with Spring Sponges from Baker Ross

Today we were in the garden by 9am

The sun was shining and it was hot, hot, hot

I set up our BigJigs easel

Gathered our Baker Ross Spring sponges

And we were ready

Ready to paint

on your marks

Esther and William were keen to get going

They were quite good at printing with the sponges

William actually took to it more than Esther

He chose to print lambs

Esther chose rabbits

getting started

Esther very quickly decided it was much more fun to just smear the sponge around the page

It is so funny how different their styles can be

What they both were though was busy

Busy busy for ages and ages

busy busy

After a while Esther started doing some really lovely painting with her fingers

She covered the page in colour

Then made marks in the colour with her finger

It was really very effective

William continued to print and paint

Trying all the different shaped sponges

Lamb, chick, egg, rabbit and flower

sponge finger

After a lot of exploration and experimentation

We worked together to create some sponge printed scenes and patterns

Here are some of our best

End Products

This was a super simple Easter activity

Made all the more enjoyable

By being completed in the garden

In glorious springtime sun

  1. I admire the freedom you give them while playing!! What type of paint do you normally use and can you easily get it out of their clothes afterwards? Thxx!
