Once there was a boy

And the boy loved Thomas

He had a twin sister

His bestest friend

And she loved Thomas too

One day they took their Mummy and Daddy

To the land of Thomas and trains

They had the most wonderful time

And made their parents promise

That one day they would return there again

They did not have to wait too long at all

From May to December 2013

They went back to Drayton Manor

To the land of Thomas and trains

To experience the magic of Christmas

It made such an impact on the boy

He did not stop talking about it for a whole year

Anytime he was asked what he might like

For a birthday or for Christmas

His answer was always the same

I want to go to Thomas Land

His Mummy and Daddy could see how much the visit meant to him

And so when December 2014 rolled around

They woke the boy up very early one morning

His beautiful twin sister too

And off they went to Thomas Land

To enjoy the engines

The rides, lights and snow

To experience a magical Christmas time

With Thomas, the Fat Controller

And friends and family too

Another year older

But the magic was just the same

The day was just as special

The hours sped by just as fast

I think we may have to go back one more time

I would like to take them to stay

In the Drayton Manor Hotel

For Christmas 2015

Probably our last visit

To this magical land of trains

It has served us well these past two years

A place to escape to

This year we arrived at 1100 am

And we left reluctantly as the park was closing

The lights were all on at dusk

As we rode the big wheel

And reflected on our day

Esther and William loved it all

William had brought his book

The Twelve Engines of Christmas

To sing to The Fat Controller

But we did not really see him

Apart from when he was busy performing in the show

Esther and William love the show

The singing and the dancing

And making it snow!

Esther and William were so excited

They did not feel the bitter cold

As they raced from ride to ride

From engine friend to engine friend

Their appreciation of Thomas Land this year

Was much different to last

They did not go on all the rides

But instead were happy running around

Playing together

And staring at the festive displays and lights

They really were very sweet together

And Bea was happy being cuddled

Or snug in her pram

We had such a lovely family day

With my sister and her family too

It was a wonderful way to build the anticipation for Christmas

Esther loved the giant singing Christmas tree

With it’s amazing large baubles

We had a The Snowman moment

Pulling faces in the coloured balls

All too soon the sky was darkening

And as the Christmas lights sparkled

Like multi coloured stars

It was time to head home to get home

To get warm

Feeling well and truly festive
