A Fairy Ballerina Bedroom for an Artist

Esther and William are now six and a half years old

They have shared a bedroom for their entire lives

But when we started renovating the house

We talked to them about the possibility of having a room of their own

At first they were unsure

But in recent months

Esther in particular

The quite and careful twin

Decided that she might actually quite like a room of her own

A pink room

Filled with fairies and ballerinas

And a place for her to write stories

And make art

And so the process has begun

And we are planning a beautiful new bedroom for Esther

At the moment the room is still filled with boxes

But we have promised it will be ready

Before she is seven

Giving us 6 months left to create

A fairy ballerina bedroom for an artist

Our artist

Our quiet, careful, creative

Not so little girl

When the house was completely empty last September

Esther, William and Bea

Helped Daddy to paint Esther’s new room

And of course it is ballerina pink

The carpet will be a natural grey beige colour

And we will make sure it is super soft

But also easy to clean

Esther is keen to have a cabin bed

So that she can make the most of the space

In her new smaller bedroom

We love the look of this sleep station from Happy Beds

happy-bed

This is a pretty and practical bed for a girl

It has features that Esther can make use of now

But will change and adapt with her as she grows

The pink drawers will be great for Esther’s clothes

The shelves at the end can be for books

And / or for displaying treasures

The desk is perfect for story writing

And school work

The high bed is an exciting change from Esther’s current bed

Which is at floor level with a play platform up above

The built in bed walls will make sure that Esther cannot roll out

While she is sleeping

And the ladder looks sturdy enough for getting in and out of bed safely

I love that the desk, drawers and shelves are free standing

So the layout of the bedroom can be changed

And also the units can be easily stored under the bed

To make extra room for play and dancing

The midsleeper is not the cheapest on the market

But I think the storage and the finish

And the flexibility of form

Make this bed great value for money

Along with her Happy Bed

Esther has lots of other bits on her

A Townhouse Bookcase for books and dolls

A Trestle Desk

On the walls there will be a mirror

With a ballet barre

So that my tiny dancer

Can perfect her steps

There will be a display box

Holding Esther’s first ballet shows

And photos from her first classes

And first show

There will be framed prints from Inspired Penguin

The room will be made magical with fairy lights

And there will of course be a fairy door

  1. Wow! This is beautiful 🙂 I might need to pinch some of these ideas – the ballet barre and mirror is just lovely!

Do you have enough bedrooms in your house for each of your children (inc sprinkle!) to have their own eventually? This is one of my big hesitations around having another child, as I’m not sure about making them share as older children and teenagers. I certainly can’t imagine having to have shared a room! I’ve spoken to family and friends and people seem divided – some have said they wouldn’t have more children than bedrooms to avoid sharing, others think it’s fine to make them share as teenagers and beyond if you don’t have the space! But I don’t know! What do you think?!

    • We currently have four bedrooms so two of the girls will have to share for a while at least. I think eventually we will move to a bigger house. We live in a tiny village at the moment but would like to be more rural with more land eventually. I think we always said that after 7 we would not want Esther and William to share anymore but I think the girls can share til they are around 11? Assuming that they get on I suppose. As a teenager myself I would have hated having to share my room x
