Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Styling Head

Esther now 7 years old

Seems to like Barbie

She always asks for Barbies as gifts

But really she does not play with them

For the first few days after being given them maybe

But very soon

Looking rather more shabby than on arrival

They are stuffed on a shelf or in a box

And not really looked at again

I can actually say that for most of our toys

Including My Little Pony

And, I am sad to say, Lottie Dolls

So when Esther was asking for a Barbie hairstyling head

The toy I remember as a child

As being Girls’ World

I was really reluctant to get her one

But then the opportunity came up to review

The Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Styling Head

I thought we would give it a go

And I am so glad that we did

As she actually really enjoys playing with it

And so does Bea, age 3

Bea actually got a Cinderella head for her birthday

So now they can sit together and play hairdressers

Which is really rather sweet

And saves me from suffering from heavy handed back combing

When they try to style my hair!

Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Styling Head costs £19.99

Which I think is around the same price as the Cinderella one

Barbie has beautiful pink hair with a rainbow streak

And in true Barbie fashion

Her face is very pretty

The hollow head is very light

Making it easy for little hands to carry around

But hard to keep still to style

The 20 piece accessory set

Includes a brush, bands and barrettes (clips) with tiny interchangeable jewels

The clips are not that easy for little hands to manipulate

We have broken some already

With a toddler and a curious baby in the house

The very small parts terrify me

So I think replacing with glittery clips and bobbles from a pound shop

Would be a very good idea!

Practising plaits

Bunches and ponytails

Is great girly fun

Esther and I have spent some time playing hairdressers

Trying out different Barbie hairstyles

barbie style

Playing with hair is quite therapeutic

It is also good for developing fine motor skills

With all the fiddling and fussing

The braiding and brushing

For less than £20 this is a good toy

For any child who likes to play Barbies

Or hairdressers

And quite good for mummies like me

To practise plaiting on a head of hair

That is not constantly wriggling

Or moving further and further away

mummy plaits

A fab toy

Fun for all the family

And an inexpensive gift to consider

With Christmas on the way!

102 sleeps to go!
