Flashback Friday – All Island Championship

When I was 6 we moved to Cyprus where I went to Berengaria School followed by Episkopi Primary. It was a great place to be during thos important childhood years. School started at 7.30am and finished at lunch ready for afternoons in the sun and on the beach. Happy days!

One of my best school memories from this time is playing table tennis. My Mum and Dad were both excellent table tennis players and my Mum in particular won lots of trophies and awards.

In 1985 I also played table tennis in a competition and what’s more, I won. I won the Junior Doubles competition with my good friend Mary Casson and I came second to her in the Singles contest. These games formed part of the All Island Table Tennis Tournament where I represented my school.

I continued to play table tennis when we moved from Cyprus to Germany but I never played competitively again, which is a shame really as I think if I had continued I could have been really rather good. My parents still play even now, though socially rather than competitively.

Here are some photos of a younger more champion me!

Esther and William have rooms (yes rooms plural!) full of toys but at the moment the thing that William loves most of all is the label on his gym!! He grabs it and pulls it, looks like he is trying to read it. It is very funny with all around him that it is this he chooses to focus on. I love my children so very much for moments just like this.

Meet Joe Black!

This week the theme is Favourite Actors.

For me it has to be Brad Pitt. I think he is wonderful. He is a great actor who can be funny, charming, endearing, odd and always always astoundingly handsome!

One of my all time favourite films is A River Runs Through It, starring Brad at what I think was his most gorgeous.

When Brad and Jennifer Aniston were together I thought they were a fabulous couple and I was so sad that he ended up with Angelia Jolie. A bad day for the girl next door!!

My favourite Brad films include Legends of the Fall where he plays brooding brother Tristan, who is in love with his brother’s wife and 12 Monkeys where he plays weird wonderfully in my opinion.

I love him in the Oceans films looking suave and being cheeky and he makes me laugh in Mr and Mrs Smith.

Sleepers is another of my favourite films and he is fantastic in this. It is an emotional story so very well told by all the actors involved including the lovely Brad.

Meet Joe Black was an easy to watch movie with Brad at his loveliest!

And Fight Club was just fabulous showcasing Pitt as fierce and at his best!

He made me laugh in Snatch and smile in The Mexican. He made me swoon in Troy, a film that I really did enjoy.

I have to say actually that I have enjoyed all of Brad’s films even the dismal Cool World all those years ago.

And who can forget Thelma and Louise? Well actually I can, I have defintiely seen the film but I do not remember that scene!

But I do love a bit of Brad, and he is my favourite actor, followed closely by Mr Depp and Christian Slater. Heathers was a wonderful film!

Who is your favourite actor? Are you willing to share? Hop on over to Metal Mummy to see who takes your fancy?

Jenny Craig – Week 3

This week is my third week on the Jenny Craig Weight Management Programme. I have to say that I am feeling good. I have had two comments on how slim I am looking and I weigh 9 stone 6 pounds. I have lost a steady 5lbs which I am happy with.

Last week my consultant corrected my calorie count to take into account the fact that I am breastfeeding twins. I am now eating up to 2300 calories a day by supplementing my Jenny Craig foods with recommended foods from their Grocery List.

This plan is so easy to follow and allows me to eat some lovely foods. I have porridge with blueberries for breakfast washed down with a fruit tea. This afternoon I used my milk allowance, a banana and a spoonful of cocoa powder to make a delicious dark chocolate milkshake / smoothie. It was lovely and healthy too!

My favourite foods so far are the mushroom and bacon risotto and mushroom stroganoff with rice. I also love the potato snacks and chocolate bars.

As part of the programme I have also made sure that I am more active. I have been out walking most days, with my double buggy, and have been more active in my play with the babies. I am feeling the benefit of this exercise and my bingo wings do seem to be tightening up.

I am looking forward to next week when I will re measure my vitals and see if I have lost inches as I think that I have.

Last week I was asked to reflect on what kind of eater I am. I am definitely an emotional eater. if I am struggling with the babies I eat, if I am bored I eat. I just like to eat, and the great thing about the Jenny Craig plan is that I can eat, I am positively encouraged to eat and still I lose weight. It is great!

But … it is also expensive. I am lucky enough to be writing this review in exchange for a 28 day trial of the Jenny Craig programme, I am not sure that this is something that I could afford to continue myself. What I can continue though are the methods and ideas that I am learnign every day to develop a healthier relationship with food.

I will always now eat little and often. I will refer to Jenny Craig’s free foods and portion control. I will continue to exercise regularly. I will continue to try and have a positive outlook about my weight loss that will remain steady until I reach my desired weight.

Jenny Craig has made me think that my goal might just be possible, and this ugly duckling will become a swan in time for her wedding!!!

Thank you Jenny Craig!

004/365 My First Mirror

Today we took delivery of an exciting new toy, Lamaze My First Mirror

Both babies had a play and loved looking at themselves and pulling funny faces but Esther went one step further and started talking to her reflection. It really was very funny and I managed to catch today’s shot.

Esther and William are such fun to be around at the moment. They are developing new skills everyday through their play. I know that this mirror is going to help them as they begin to explore sound and expression. I know that it is going to make me giggle watching them do it.

I am loving this photography challenge, I should have started it long ago.

Bloggers Year Book

Today I have been reading about a Bloggers Year Book to be collated by Tara at Sticky Fingers. This has been inspired by people posting old school photos as part of this week’s The Gallery theme of Education. I did not post my school photos but would very much like to be included in the year book so am posting some photos here. These are all quite early pics through primary to Year 7, I think. They were all taken in the 80s.

I wonder if regular readers of my blog see any likeness between me and Esther and William? I would be really interested to know.
