WPD12: Emma Jane Deluxe Breastfeeding Vest Review and Giveaway with Boobie Milk

My apologies for the late drawing of this giveaway BUT we do have a winner!!

Congratulations Blog By Baby!!

I am now three days behind with my busy Prematurity Awareness Month blogging campaign. And it is with a heavy heart and a poorly stomach that I write this post. I have the start of a stomach bug, a gurgling stomach and those disgusting sulphur burps. Yuck!

I am feeling down because it was problems with my stomach that led to my twin pregnancy ending prematurely and now stomach problems are interfering with me blogging for a topic that I love and for charities I am keen to support.

But here I am and here we are. Raising awareness for premature babies and their families this cold November eve.

For the last few weeks I have been testing an Emma Jane Deluxe Breastfeeding Vest from the lovely Karen at Boobie Milk. I wish I had known about Karen when the twins were born. I was not prepared at all for nursing my twins, why would I be? They were not due for at least another ten weeks. Probably thirteen.

I could have had Karen come to my house and she would have talked me through all my options and I am sure would have been kind and understanding about my situation.

I could have talked to her about the expressing every three hours in the hospital. The expressing every three hours through the nights. Home alone, without our babies. How sometimes at the hospital I had to express next to the twins incubators as the expressing room was full. The need to have my breasts accessible at all times even though my babies were not with me. Even though I could not actually feed them. I was storing up all the supplies they would need. And then when they were big enough and strong enough to try to feed, I wanted to do it discreetly. I was aware of being watched by the nursing staff, lovely as they were this was all new to me and I was a little self conscious to say the least.

In NICU it is incredibly hot. And it was summer when Esther and William were born. The Emma Jane Deluxe Breastfeeding Vest would have been the perfect thing for me to wear, in and out of the hospital.

The white vest fits beautifully. I am a very small size 10 and so Karen recommended I get the 10/12 as the Emma Jane sizes come up small. She was of course exactly right. The vest fits and sits beautifully. It does not ride up or wrinkle like some other nursing tops I have tried.

The shelf support is supportive and means I can wear the vest on it’s own. The thick, deluxe, material means that I do not have to worry about anything being on show and the feeding access is also very discreet. The a frame of the cup means that not too much breast flesh is exposed through a feed.

I would have felt confident enough to express in front of other parents in NICU with showing too much of my post pregnancy and post surgery self. It would not have been nice for them to see.

Even now I am very conscious of the scarring on my stomach. My bikini days are well and truly gone. This is a top that eases my worries as it covers my scar adequately and is thick enough to be worn alone so would be great on the beach. I always wonder what to wear on holiday when I am feeding. Well, now I know!

What I wish I could have worn those first 59 days as a mummy.

The Emma-Jane 830 Deluxe Breastfeeding Vest Top is very similar in
design to the Emma-Jane 821 Regular Nursing Vest but has a higher
cotton content making the fabric more luxurious and plush. It’s ideal
for colder temperatures and women that feel the cold, especially when
nursing outside. The thicker fabric is also great when worn alone as it
is not see-through. This Breastfeeding Vest Top is very versatile. It
can be worn without a nursing bra because it has bra shelf support and
breast pads can be held in place by the drop down cup. When the
cup is open, the A-frame support provides breat breast coverage for
nursing out and about. You will find many uses for this nursing top
and wonder how you ever lived without one.

It can be worn as an extra layer for warmth or for tummy coverage
when nursing. It can also be worn on its own and in bed for easy
access at night.

I do wear the vest most days now. In fact, I went to see Karen at the Boobie Milk stand at The Baby Show and bought two more. A black one and another white. So I really can, and often, do wear the Emma Jane vest all the time. Day and night.

Karen has very kindly agreed to offer one of these deluxe nursing vests to an Edspire reader. All you have to do is this
