The Big Big Tree

We live in a big big house

With a big big garden

In the big big garden

There is a big big tree

Or at least

There WAS a big big tree!

Today the tree came down

Now we have a big big wood chip pile

And some big big logs

We are going to have some big big adventures

And some natural messy play!

The Tree That Framed Our Garden

The Tree That Framed Our Family

The tree is a Eucalyptus. It was nearly 20 metres tall. It shaded our lawn and whistled in the breeze.

It was dangerous dropping bark and branches randomly and one of its trunks had cracked and come loose from the ground.

The decision was taken out of our hands.

The bulk of the big big tree had to go.

One mass of messy play materials!!

Now the big big garden

Behind the big big house

Is a big big land of possibility and adventure

Fairy rings and totem poles

Crocodile seats

A wooden train

A mini log cabin

A tree house with a helter skelter style slide

The future of our garden is looking bright!!

Thanks to The Big Big Tree x

Let the creations begin!

  1. Jennie your garden looks like a park! What a fabulous playground for Esther and William. Wow taking that tree down must have made such a difference to the light and space. And how exciting for them – I bet watching it come down will remain as one of their very early memories x

  2. Wow your garden is amazing. The twins will have so much fun with the remains of the tree- automatically I thought tree house at the top! 🙂

  3. Wow your garden is wonderful (we don’t have one so I am very jealous)! It opens up the garden so much, love the photo of the twins in their hard hats and high vis jackets. Can’t wait to see what you make/do with the logs, bet it will look amazing, and be amazing for you all especially the twins.

Love the way you have written the post, reminded me of the books ‘funny bones’ I used to read when I was a child, at least I think that’s what it was called if I remember correctly! x

  4. We have lots of trees in our back garden so it’s very shady on one side, problem is the main offenders are peeping over from next door!! What I wouldn’t give for some brightness in the garden and some ready made play materials! ! Can’t wait to see how your garden develops xxxxx

  5. Sad to see a eukalyptus go as they are such magnificent trees, but the world of possibilities it opens up for you makes me excited for you! My goodness! So much fun awaits! 🙂
