On The Rocks

Yesterday we went to the beach

One of the places I feel most at peace

Is by the sea

Even before Tilda

I adored the sea

David and I both

Have an affinity with the sea

It is why Tilda’s ashes

Set sail

And now wherever we are

We can find water

And feel close to our little girl

Yesterday we went to our closest sea

At Hythe

I love Hythe and we have spent many special occasions there

It is a favourite place for New Year’s Day

It is a favourite place for Tilda’s day

It is a lovely day out in the summer

Providing everything we need

Including a rather wonderful steam railway

In the winter it is perfect

For brisk walks in the winter sun

Biking and scooting

Collecting stones

Exploring the banks of the Military Canal

Yesterday

We went for chips

And to see the sea

Flat and calm again

After the rages of the storms

We walked along the promenade

We played on the pebbles

elf on the beach

We threw stones in the sea

We ran and rolled on the seafront

It was a glorious day

And for the longest time

We played

On the rocks!

rocky

On the rocks

Under the rocks

Between and beside

Climbing and clambering

Exploring and adventuring

climbing

Finding caves

Nooks and crannies and holes

It was wonderful

On the rocks

cave dwellersEsther and William had a wonderful time

Playing together and with us

It was lovely to feel the sun on our faces

A light breeze through our hair

Such a relief from the rain and gales of late

together

Esther who is not as at home outdoors as William

Had a wonderful time

And a beautiful smile

It was magical to see

sunshine smiles

And I felt at peace

Though with a wrenching in my heart

To see only two children

Where there should be three

siblings

But I am proud of these photos

Of our miracle two

Our twins who really are babies no more

The first two of our fantastic three

Best friends and siblings

Our saving grace

Making the most

Of a day by the sea

Playing, exploring, imagining and adventuring

All on the rocks

By the sea

  1. Looks like a beautiful day out! I wish we lived nearer to the sea, it’s always made me feel calmer and more at ease too. Luckily I get similar feelings from walking by the river in our local park, though its not the same.

  2. Beautiful photos, looks a wonderful day out. I always feel at peace by the sea, I wish we lived nearer to the coast sometimes, I am sure I’d get out more for a fresh seas breeze walk than a usual walk around here. x

  3. As you know we are great lovers of the coast, whatever the season, and are very fortunate to live so close. It offers something for the all the family and plenty of play opportunities for the children. It looks like you had a lovely family outing on a beautiful clear day and took some lovely photos of Esther and William. Thanks for linking up and sharing your beach outing with Country Kids.

  4. These photos are beautiful Jennie. It looks like the twins had an amazing adventurous day at the beach. I think it’s lovely that you can feel closer to Tilda by the sea, I think there is something so peaceful and beautiful about open water.

  5. Lovely photos. So wonderful to see Esther & William having fun. We love Hythe too. The first time we went we saw a dolphin swimming just off the shore!

We were at the beach today too, but we went to our favourite at Broadstairs

  6. We adore the sea too, it provides an ever-changing landscape and the rhythmic pounding of the waves- large or small- is always calming. I love beachcombing and have indoctrinated my brood too.
Combine sun and sea (whatever the temperatures) and there is always lots of fun to be had. It’s wonderful to see the smiles on Esther and William’s faces.
