Rediscovering Our Garden with Tiny Discoverers

What a wonderful weekend just gone

All of the last week really

Until today

But even today

We went outside

Squelching and squerching in the muddy bog

That was once our garden

Spring is definitely on its way

But it is going to take our beautiful garden

Some time to be back at its best

It is so soggy and boggy

Particularly in Tilda’s garden

Our front garden and the lowest part of our plot

The last few days have seen us don our wellies

Our Muddy Puddles puddlesuits

And head for the great back yard

It has been wonderful

Rediscovering our garden

And searching for sneaky signs of spring

Esther and William are very lucky

And have been sent a Woodland Adventure pack each

From Tiny Discoverers

initial discovery

The little red rucksacks arrived

Packed with binoculars, magnifying glasses

Specimen pots, for creatures and plants

Tweezers

Crayons

Tracing paper

And identification sheets

Esther and William could not wait to get started

Could not wait to start exploring

Even if it was only as far as our own back garden

ready to discover

To be fair we have half an acre of back garden

So there is quite a lot to seek and explore

Esther and William love being outdoors

And you could tell by their faces how much they have hated

This wettest winter on record

It was good for us all

To get out and breathe

smiley faces

We spent hours outside

Soaking up the sunshine

Sliding and seeking

slide and seek

For signs of spring

Daffodils and crocuses

Fungi

Blossom

Ladybirds and woodlice

Berries on bushes

Buds on trees

We searched high and low

Near and far

With magnifying glasses

And binocularseses (very cute pronunciation of binoculars)

I do love my children!

I do love spring

Esther was the best with her magnifying glass

I call her Magnificent Madame

She is patient and gentle

She is slow and quiet

Esther found the woodlice nestled in the tree

She was actually searching for baby owls

But settled for the louse

magnifying madam

It was also Esther who found a bush filled with ladybirds

Just like an episode of Abney and Teal

For ages we spotted them and counting them

What a wonderful sign of spring to see

ladybirds

William enjoyed the seeking and finding for a little while

But mostly he made the most of the puddles

Before the spring sunshine takes them away

What fun he had

Splashing in puddles

What fun we had in the sun!

muddy puddles

We will be getting out and about with our Woodland Adventure Packs over the coming weeks or months.

We hope that you will join us.

Esther and William were each sent a Tiny Discoverers Woodland Adventure Pack for the purpose of this review

  1. I hope they will bring their Woodland Adventure packs to Coombe Mill. There are bugs and frogspawn, ladybirds and may be even a fish to find if they go on a farm expedition.

    • Jen, glad you liked the look of the adventure packs. We’re currently running a competition to win a free pack on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/tinydiscoverers) if you’d like to be in with a chance of winning one x
