colour hunt

Give your children a basket or bucket of coloured eggs

Ask them to fill the eggs with things they find in the garden

Things of the same or a similar colour

They can get a point for each thing that they find

Bonus points for perfect matches and harder colours

Like blue!

We has great fun in the garden with our colour hunt

We learned the name of lots of flowers too

Thanks to Great Aunty Carolyn

Esther and William love treasure hunts

And scavenger hunts of any kind

They love running round the garden

Searching and discovering

William is the more competitive of the two

He likes to be first and fastest

And have the most

hunting

Esther is more considered and careful

And everyone and everything becomes a character in a story

A wonderful magical story

She likes things to be little and pretty

Rather like her!

little and pretty

The two of them complement each other

They really do

They work well together

They love each other

It makes me very emotional and proud

Especially when I see them working together

Sharing and helping one another

Being as close as they can be

This ‘eggtivity’ was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon

We all love being outside

And I love photographing the children as they play

Exploring and picturing our garden

In spring time

Is a pure pleasure

And the colour hunt showed off the garden to us beautifully

sharing

Through this activity

We learned so much

We learned about colours and their different shades

We learned about same, different and similar

We learned about size and measurement and comparison

We used wonderful words to describe our finds

We were careful with our delicate treasures

We worked together and shared together

We admired our garden and in it our world

And we were thankful for the colours

That brighten up our garden, our moods and our day

matching

This was a lovely activity for a sunny spring day
