Dressing Siblings For a Summer Wedding #ad

We kicked off June

With a very special wedding

At Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire

The wedding was lovely

The setting stunning

The bride beautiful

It was a perfect occasion

Made all the more perfect

By my super little ones

Being on their best behaviour

I had been very anxious in the run up to the wedding

That they would struggle

But they were wonderful

And I was so incredibly proud

And very thankful to my anxious over thinking self

For being planned to pernickety perfection

I was a proud mummy

And David said that he felt proud too

As he looked at his wife and children

All dressed up for the very special occasion

For the wedding I wore an old favourite dress

That I had worn exactly one year before

To the wedding of my oldest friend

It was a cream maxi dress with a poppy and wild flower print

It was perfect for feeding Edie in

And a dress I have known and loved for a long time now

One that I feel myself in

A bit like a security blanket

But a tad more elegant than wrapping myself in one of those!

We do not get out to many super special occasions

So the children needed dressing

They needed new everything

And while I wanted them to look perfect

I also wanted their clothes to be practical

I wanted them to be able to be dressed down and worn again

I wanted our siblings to look like siblings

To be twins but not identical

I also wanted them to feel confident and comfortable

In what they were wearing and to be able to do the things that children do

I still have memories of racing around at a wedding

When I was 5 or 6

Playing tag and monsters with my cousins

I wanted my children to be able to do that too

Though I did not intentionally match the girls to my own dress

We did all end up wearing dresses which were predominantly ivory or cream

Esther and Bea wore their beautiful dresses from David Charles Childrenswear

The cream floral party gowns were perfect for a summer wedding

With just the right amount of gold, tulle and exquisite embroidery

I picked out colours from the dress for their shoes

And they each chose a cover up that I felt matched their age and personality

Esther had an awesome denim jacket

While Bea had an ivory bolero fastened with a pearl

Here are the children’s outfits

Esther and Bea’s dresses were gifted

As were all of the children’s Bobux shoes

Everything else I bought myself

Esther, age 8 (nearly 9)

Esther wore a beautiful cream floral gown

The David Charles Childrenswear dress

Sat just above her knee

The skirt was straight with a tulle layer that came below the knee

The bodice had a high neck with a small ruffle on the neck line

The dress had a v back

The cream dress had floral embroidery in green, gold and pink

It was really very very pretty

Esther chose closed toe shoes from our favourite shoe maker Bobux Shoes

She opted for pale pink which matched the pink in her dress

She really loved the Delight Blush from Bobux

And it was the perfect choice

The classic Mary Jane style

Complemented her outfit brilliantly

Esther lives in these shoes now

They were pretty for the wedding

And are practical for everyday life

The leather upper and barefoot technology

Mean these are super comfy shoes for growing feet

To go with her princess dress and pretty yet practical shoes

Esther chose a funky military style denim jacket from Angel Faces

The decorative gold buttons complemented her dress

And the quirky addition of the jacket really suited Esther’s character

And status as oldest sibling

She was very pleased with her look!

Bea, age 4 (almost 5)

wedding post 10

Bea adored her party dress

The shape was so pretty

Perfect for a fairy, princess or ballerina

ALL the things Bea loves to be!

wedding post 7

The dress had the same materials and embroidery as Esther’s

The skirt was more full in Bea’s dress

She added an ivory bolero with a pearl button

Bea’s shoes were from Bobux

She chose the shiniest shoes she could find

Swirl Gold

Even the name is very Bea!

The classic Ballet style shoes

Have a gorgeous pearlised finish

That adds that little bit of glam

Perfect for parties, dancing and playing!

wedding post 6

Bea loves her new dress and shoes

Think she will be wearing them again over the summer

As we enter birthday party season!

wedding post 5

Edie, age 2 (just 2)

wedding post 1

I wanted Edie to complement the older girls

But I wanted her to look like the toddler she is

I wanted her dress to be machine washable

And I wanted the material to be super soft

So soft that she could sleep comfortably in it if needed

wedding post 2

I turned to Boden

And bought this beautiful ivory pintuck dress

It is so simple but I think it is stunning

Stunning in it’s simplicity

wedding post 11

So many people commented on her dress throughout the day

It was perfect for her and set off by her gold Bobux shoes

Her shoes were a matte gold rather than a shiny gold

I chose the same colour as Bea and the same style as Esther

Delight Gold

wedding post 8

I think the plain yet pretty dress of Edie

Set off the detail of the older girls dresses

I was really pleased with how the three came together

And they all wore stars in their hair for Matilda Mae

William, age 8 (nearly 9)

My goodness me dressing a boy for a wedding is hard!

I wanted William to look like William

He loves animals and bright colours

He also loves super soft materials

Short sleeves and shorts

He was not going to look or feel comfortable in a formal suit

And so I once again turned to Boden

And bought William this sloth shirt that he loves

Orange chino shorts

And this jersey blazer that he adores

It can easily be dressed up or down

Meaning it will be worn over and over again

I loved the way William looked for the wedding

And I know that he did too

My bright quirky boy looked super handsome

And fairly smart

I was very proud to be his mummy

wedding post 4

William also wore Bobux shoes

Port Caramel

Serving as an awesome adventure shoe

An excellent shoe for exploring

And wonderful to wear to a wedding!

wedding post 3

What fun I had pulling their outfits together

How wonderful they were at the very special wedding

My beautiful wedding belles

And my gorgeous boy x
