Perfect Picture Books To Share With Loved Ones In Lockdown

A small collection of books

That bring us comfort

When we are unable to see the ones that we love

Picture books are beautiful

They convey messages we all need to hear

In the most wonderful ways

Picture books are perfect presents

For people of all ages

These are just a few of our favourite lockdown reads

Good morning! I want to share some books today that have been giving us comfort during lockdown. This book, The Invisible String, is a special Baby Tilda Book. Some lovely person who I am sad to say I cannot remember sent us this shortly after we lost Tilda. This beautiful story tells how we are always connected to those we love by an invisible string. No matter where we are we are never alone. The love of our family and friends is always with us. As we live through a global pandemic I think we all need to know that we are in this together and no matter how on our own we feel we are connected. When we are feeling sad or scared we can remember our invisible string of love x

We are huge @britta_teckentrup fans and have a growing collection of her beautiful books. Beautiful illustrations and simple yet powerful words that especially in this book are a source of comfort for all ages. I am a huge believer in the fact that picture books are for everyone not just for children. As we face a global pandemic it is good for us all to know that We Are Here Together. Together we are strong. By sticking together as families, communities, countries, continents, worlds we are better. In times of crisis we do better together. When we join up even in a virtual way we are a team. ‘Flocking together we soar and fly’ This beautiful book reminds us that instead of just waiting for the storm to pass for the sake of our physical and mental health we must learn to dance in the rain and splash in ALL the puddles til the sun shines again. Britta tells us that ‘we can change the world with the power of words. Let’s all rock the boat, so our voices are heard! There is much we can do from the safety of our homes. To help one another. ‘If we all sing together, one voice becomes a choir’ This book could be an anthem for this time, it should be read by everyone and read aloud to those who cannot read it for themselves. This book is a mantra for staying strong and creative and reminding us of the power of love and friendship in a time when we need reminding most. This is a picture book to treasure. We Are Together! @caterpillar_books

Going out for a walk today? Why not go on a joy hunt? In the book Joy Fern goes in search of some joy to bring back to her Nanna who is feeling down. Yesterday Bea and I turned our walk into a Joy hunt. We saw lots of beautiful flowers, trees full of blossom, butterflies in lots of different colours including a peacock butterfly who landed right in front of us. We saw newborn lambs and fields and fields of glorious yellow oilseed rape. We lived the sunlight shining through the trees in the woods making the carpet of bluebells sparkle. We blew dandelion clocks and made wishes on the fairies as they flew away. There is joy everywhere if you take some time to see it. We wanted go share some of the joy we found with you x #goingonajoyhunt #joyhunt #joy #joyful #seekingjoy #findingjoy #makingtheordinaryextraordinary #bookishwalk #dailywalk #dailyexercise #bookstagram #childrensbooks #kidsbookswelove #kidsbookstagram #childrensbookstagram #dailyexercise #isolationinspiration @quartokids

When David and I first met he went away on holiday. We missed each other very much and he text me and told me to look up at the moon and see Venus too. It made us feel closer together knowing we were seeing the same things, knowing that we were under the same sky. @britta_teckentrup has a beautiful book by that name Under The Same Sky. It is beautiful and perfect to share with those you love as we navigate our way through this global pandemic. Though we are all staying safe in our homes we are missing those we hold dear. It helps to look up and remember that we are all in this together. We experience many of the same hopes and dreams. We have lots of the same questions and worries. We face the same storms, we dream the same dreams. A perfect peek through picture book to keep us strong together. #stayhome #stayhomestaysafe #stayhomesavelives #inthistogether #bettertogether #strongertogether #picturebooks #picturebook #childrensbooks #childrensbookstagram #kidsbookstagram #kidsbook #kidlit #childrensliterature #booksforchildren #raisingreaders #littlebookworm #bookrecommendations #storytime #booklove
