How to Boost Your Child’s Creativity #ad

Being creative with your child is a surefire way of allowing them to learn about lots of different things, be able to think on the spot and grow their own initiative. It also promotes happy and healthier children if they’re able to think inquisitively.

In this guide from a boarding school in Birmingham, we take a look at the ways you can boost your child’s creative side.

Spend time doing some baking or cooking
Baking is a classic activity that kids love to get stuck into, not just for the satisfying end of licking the bowl. It ignites their creativity if they’re able to make their own icing, or are in charge of layering a cake or adding fillings and other toppings for example. It can also be the start of a passion your child may have for cooking or baking things in the oven.

Take them to an indoor play area
This can mean the trampoline park, going to a water park or even a jungle gym and creche. They allow children to explore, have fun, maybe even pull off a few tricks to impress their parents. A big part of regular activity and creative play is letting your child go off and spend some time alone thinking about their next move in the ball pit, or giving them a bucket and spade to make some sand sculptures. It all promotes imaginative ways of playing.

Teach them about music
You may not be a music aficionado yourself, but you can give your child the tools to try for themselves. Whether you buy a small keyboard or go big with a guitar, your child is learning about how music is made and the creative process behind it. They’re also learning about how they can make sounds and noises of their own. No matter how talented you feel they are, they’re exploring their creative side and understanding what it takes to make a good song.

Play board games
Not all board games can be linear, they teach children how to think on their toes whilst having fun at the same time. Card games and games like Monopoly or Jenga show a child how they can be creative with the choices they make on the table. One wrong move and it could all fall down, or they lose a few hotels on the board, but a quick change in tactics can shift the whole dynamic of a game. It’s perfect for creative minds to grow.
