The Creative Dance Company Summer Show 2023

On Saturday it was
The Creative Dance Company
Summer Show 2023
I was very honoured
To be a chaperone
And to be given a sneak peek
Of the teachers and
All the amazing children
At work
Pulling the final parts
Of the production together
I was so impressed by
The behaviour and work ethic
Of all the children
I was in awe of the staff
And all their helpers
Bringing the show to life
After months of rehearsal
In just one day
It made me so excited
For everyone involved
And gave me the best memories
Of my own childhood
And early adult years on stage
There is nothing quite like
The buzz and adrenalin of show day!

After a very long
VERY hot day
It was time for
Curtain up!

The show opened
With a number
From this year’s
Tenterden Panto
In which many
Of the students
Had performed
Hoedown Throwdown
Had great energy
And immediately
Engaged and lifted
The audience
Encouraging us to
Move and clap along

The next dance
Had ALL the cute
As the Juniors performed
Get Back Up Again
From Trolls

I have to admit
That for most of
This number
I only had eyes for Edie
Sorry!
But it was a
Gorgeous performance
From all the little ones

I LOVED the
Bugsy Malone numbers
Bad Guys
Fat Sam’s Grand Slam
And You Give A Little Love

I LOVED watching Bea
With her Mid 1s singing group
She was singing
And acting her heart out
I was so proud!

I also want to mention
Mid 2s Martha and Leah
Who really grabbed
And held my attention
Every time they were
On stage

The Juniors singing
I’d Do Anything
With Izzie
Was beautiful
Such lovely singing
And such adoration
For senior student
And their TA
Izzie …
… You will be so missed

Hard Knock Life
From Annie and
Quiet from Matilda
Were fantastic
Dance numbers
From the Mid 1s
Again I must admit
I mostly watched Bea
As she is mine and
I was also completely
Under the spell of
Her acting when she dances
And her stage presence
The two dances were
Brilliant group numbers
Well done to all!

One of the highlights
Of the show for me
And my 12 year old twins
Was Lucy F leading
The Seniors in
I Got Rhythm
A fantastic performance!

Our other highlights
Were the girls who sang solo
Matilda sang
Castle On A Cloud
So beautifully
Lucy B gave a stunning
Performance of Cabaret
And Leah moved me deeply
With her performance of
On My Own
She is an incredible performer
One to watch in the future
I predict!

There was so much to love
In this show
So much to take in
And enjoy
I laughed and cried
And could not relax at all
Through the show
Because I just did not
Want to miss a thing

Amazing acting
Exquisite dancing
There was wit
Comedy
Pathos
Stunning solo performances
Gorgeous group numbers
It was just a brilliant brilliant show
And I would happily watch it all again

The true highlight for me though
Came from watching the children
Watch each other
Through the rehearsals
And the show
You can see the friendships
How much they support one another
You can see the respect between peers
You can see the awe and admiration
In the eyes of the little ones
As the big ones knock their socks off
Take their breath away and
Truly show them how it is done

The whole day rehearsal and show
Had a wonderfully warm family feel
HUGE congratulations to everyone involved
I cannot wait to see what comes next
For The Creative Dance Company
And also for the wonderful graduates
That bid a very emotional farewell
At the end of the how

PT Barnum once said
“The noblest art is that of making others happy”
Team Creative Dance
You have most definitely done that
Thank you for making us all
Smile and feel alive x
