I love Christmas because we tell stories

This is a book for children written by children, or at least a collection of their thoughts. This is a book that celebrates Christmas, in children’s very own words.

Why I Love Christmas is a beautiful book illustrated by Daniel Howarth and would make a wonderful gift for a baby’s first Christmas.

The words describing a human Christmas are depicted using scenes from the animal world. It is a very clever book as well as stunningly compiled and presented.

I love Christmas because it is cosy inside

The heart warming illustrations include a family of hedgehogs curled up in hibernation, penguins playing on the ice, a pair of bear cubs watching the moon and a trio of dogs lounging in the glow of a roaring log fire.

We use this book as a stimulus for discussing Christmas and for talking about what animals do in the winter. How do they keep safe and warm as the weather gets chilly. Esther and William love to sign the animal names and listen to Mummy make animal sounds. This is a book filled with festive fun for all the family.

And why is it that little children love Christmas? The carol singing, the party games, the presents, the cakes?
