WPD12: A Person is a Person No Matter How Small!

Today we are half way through World Prematurity Awareness Month and two days away from World Prematurity Day.

I want to start today by announcing the winner of the beautiful A3 print from Dolly and Jack.

The winner is Tracy Nixon. Congratulations. (I hope that you will be happy to take my word for it as I forgot to save the screen from my list randomiser!!)

I also want to share with you some ways that you can get involved with World Prematurity Day and also tell you about an exciting new way that you can help Bliss in their work with premature babies and their families.

Together we can be the voice for babies and their families, making sure their needs are heard around the world.

The 17th November 2012 is World Prematurity Awareness Day. The colour for International World Prematurity Day is purple so why not wear something purple for the day to show your support for the littlest people in our lives.

We will be going to Tumble Tots in our purple attire on Saturday morning and I will be telling all the mummies there why!

You can also light a light this Saturday for premature babies born, those who are with us today and those that lost their fight.

Hold a Little Lights Walk with your friends and family on 17th November, World Prematurity Day. Get together when it starts to get dark to mark the 15 million premature babies born worldwide. All you need to do is decide where and how far you’d like to walk, invite everyone you know and encourage them to bring a candle or torch to help light the way. If a walk’s too much then maybe just have a stroll in a local park or common, or even just a gathering in someone’s garden or the local school field. By asking people to donate £2 to take part you will be raising valuable funds for Bliss, and if you can get sponsorship as well that will make all the difference.

We have two star tealight holders bought for a dear friend and her angels. We will light those again in a show of strength and unity for all those born too small, too sick and too soon.

If you are online this Saturday there are some things you can do to play your part this World Prematurity Day.

Visit www.bliss.org to donate to this wonderful charity – give as much or as little as you can but help them make a difference to the lives of babies born too soon.

You can also make sure that you are following this blog so that you do not miss out on all the fabulous giveaways coming up in support of World Prematurity Awareness Month. For the big day itself we will be giving away a double electric breast pump from Lansinoh! A fabulous prize not to be missed!!

Speaking of prizes, there is a simple way that you can support premature babies and their families through Bliss every week and not just this month. You can show your support by playing the Bliss Lottery.

It only costs £1 a week, with Bliss receiving 50p from every entry. So even if you don’t get lucky, you’ll be doing good – by helping Bliss to carry on providing vital support and care to vulnerable babies and their families.

You would also be in with the chance of winning yourself £25,000!

Whatever you choose to do I hope that you can do something to show your support. After all, a person is a person no matter how small!
