Accessorise Your Play Kitchen This Christmas

I have really enjoyed writing a post today about our play kitchen from Plum Products.

It made me think about accessories to extend and enrich kitchen play.

I started looking at some toy shops online to find some accessories that might make good presents for young children this Christmas.

I thought I would share with you some of my favourite finds

Every kitchen needs a kettle and this is a lovely one from Play Merrily

William loves measuring things. Scales are a great way to bring maths and number work into kitchen play. These wooden scales from Kids Play Kit might be on William’s wish list this Christmas I think

We are big fans of Fabric Fancies from Beebies Baby Stores. This homemade fabric play food is wonderful and many of the items can be personalised for your little ones, just like these snowflake cookies

If you prefer wooden foods then Play Merrily is the place to shop with a stunning selection of wooden play foods

I love this Djeco Birthday Party Tea Set. I love any dual purpose toy and this gives you a tea set and a birthday cake that can be used on its own. Esther and William love to have tea parties with teddies and they love playing birthdays. This is a great toy kitchen accessory with plenty of play potential

Learning about healthy eating can be great fun with a play kitchen. This Wooden Food Groups Set from The Bear and Miss Rabbit would be perfect for learning about different types of food through play

Big Jigs Crates are the best I have found for storing play food, wooden or fabric. They are strong and sturdy and look fantastic on display

If your children love smoothies then this Smoothie Maker from Play Merrily is a must have accessory for their kitchen

If your children are more at home making cakes in the kitchen then this starry baking gift set could be for you, and them!

This pretty cupcake collection with stand is very cute too!

What modern kitchen is complete without its very own coffee machine? This one from Beebies Baby Store is very sweet

We have a shop in our playroom as well as our kitchen and to encourage play between the two I love this dairy delivery crate

Another way to extend real life role play beyond the kitchen is to use this amazing picnic set from Djeco. Children can pack up and head off on their adventures in the garden or another part of the house.

Where there is cooking there is always cleaning so you can buy your little ones this lovely cleaning set to encourage them to keep their home corner spick and span

I had been struggling with ideas for Esther and William for what to add to our already busy playroom but browsing these shops has made me think about creating a much more extensive home corner, adding perhaps an ironing board, a fridge and a washing machine.

And perhaps some dressing up!

At this rate their kitchen will have more mod cons than my own.

What is your children’s must have or most wanted play kitchen accessory?
