Wow Stuff Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak #review

What a weekend we have had!

Potions

Parties

Magic wands

Fireworks

And cloaks

Including one WOW cloak

The Wow Stuff Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak

We were very kindly sent this Invisibility Cloak and supporting app to review

The cloak, instructions and a small smart phone stand come in a boxed set

The cloak retails at around £50

But is currently on offer in Argos and Smyths Toys

The cloak is gorgeous on the outside

Covered in magical pictures and patterns

Just like Harry’s cloak that he receives in the first book

The inside of the cloak is a lovely green

The bright green cloth is where the magic lies

The magic is green screening technology

Just as they use in animation software and movies

Esther, William and Bea are all adept at green screening

As it is a feature in Daddy’s animation software

Zu3D

I wonder if this made the cloak not quite so magical to them

As it would seem to children who had no or little experience of using the technology

Then I imagine it would have even more of a WOW effect than it did

With our super keen trainee witches and wizard!

The instructions for downloading the app and getting set up

Are simple and easy to follow

There is a code printed on the instruction leaflet in the box

That you will need to activate the app and verify your product

I think this means that the app can only be installed on one device

So be sure to put it on the smart phone or tablet that you use most

The app allows you to take photographs and video

To begin the process you need to set your scene

Then set up your device on the small stand provided

Or, if you have one, use a tripod

It is REALLY important that you keep the phone completely still throughout the process

If the phone moves at all you have to start all over again

There is a knack to getting it right I think

And you need to be patient if it goes wrong and you need to begin again

All of this technical stuff was largely unnoticed by our children

They were busy gathering props

And planning their moves

We had such fun getting to grips with the app

Even Daddy had a go at being filmed!

We hope to act out scenes from the films

Over the coming weeks

And David has some great ideas for using the cloak in party games!

We really liked getting the scene ready

And the children loved making their bodies disappear

It was great fun trying out different things

And I think the more we use the cloak and app

The better we will get at making sequences that really work

The cloak is full length for a grown up

So there is a lot of material for little people to handle and manipulate

There were a lot of funny outtakes!

This would be such a fun gift to play with

With all the family on Christmas Day

I have shared some of our videos over on Instagram

And would love for you to have a look at them

If you buy the cloak and make some magical movies of your own

Do let us know as we would really love to see them

The Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak is developed by Wow! Stuff

In collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products

At the time of posting the cloak is on offer at Amazon, Argos and Smyths Toys

Accio Cloak!

We were sent the cloak in return for an honest review
