Nativity The Musical at The Marlowe Theatre #review

On Wednesday I took my three theatre loving big kids

To see Nativity The Musical

At our favourite theatre The Marlowe, Canterbury

We had our picnic tea on the train

Then in our Christmas jumpers and very special Frugi dresses

We were ready to Sparkle and Shine

We are feeling full on festive after seeing @nativityuk this evening @marlowetheatre The whole cast were amazing but Mr Poppy led the show and he was just wonderful! He reminded me of Peter Kay with his humour and he was just so funny and engaging. He and the awesome children just made the show sparkle and shine. A lot of the humour went over the heads of my children but they loved all the singing and the dancing. The last half of the second act was just brilliant and gave us ALL the festive feels. I think I was first to my feet when the show finished. What a performance! I laughed and cried, laughed til I cried. It really was amazing and the best way to start our countdown to Christmas! #presstrip #marlowetheatre #nativitythemusical #nativitythemusical2019 #familytheatre #kenttheatre #kent #canterbury #festivetheatre #edspireadvenfadventures I am SO SO SO excited for Mother Goose now! @evolutionpantomimes @drranj #marlowepanto

Having watched the film and LOVED it

We had high hopes for the show

As we arrived the theatre was buzzing

It was busy and the air was filled with festive cheer

Lots of people were giving their Christmas outfits an airing

Everyone was ready to enjoy some festive fun

Here Comes Santa Claus featuring a very enthusiastic Christmas tree

Was the perfect way to open the show

We were all dancing in our seats and singing along

Scott Paige as Mr Poppy tells the story

Scott Paige is a force of nature and the role of Mr Poppy was written for him

Larger than life, warm hearted, crazy and funny

And an amazing singing voice

He was amazing from start to finish and for me made the show

All the actors were very good

And the singing was beautiful

Scott Garnham was a strong Mr Maddens

He was grumpy but also likeable

You wanted things to go well for him

His singing was beautiful

As was Jennifer’s

The actress playing Jennifer, Ashleigh Gray, was stunning

But Mr Poppy really did steal the show

He made us laugh so much

He reminded me of Peter Kay

He was very very funny

The real stars of the show

Were of course the children

They brought ALL the sparkle and shine!

My children loved watching such a talented group of their peers

Work so hard and clearly loving what they were doing

All the children were a joy to watch

And really did make the show the wonder it was

All the singing and dancing

All the magic

What a fantastic way to begin our advent adventures!

The last half of the second act

Was just the perfect Christmas party

It was all the songs we know and love from the film

Sung by amazing young children

Who had such awesome stage presence

They were an absolute joy to watch

On a stunning colourful set

Filled with sparkle and shine

It was really emotional

And I was one of the first to my feet at the end of the show

A well deserved standing ovation

From a full house

I don’t think anyone leaving the theatre

Can have been feeling anything other than all the joy of the festive season

The most wonderful time of the year is here

And this was the most magical way to begin it

Thank you to all the cast

And thank you to The Marlowe Theatre for inviting us

We are now counting down to our next trip to The Marlowe

To see Dr Ranj in pantomime

In what promises to be a truly spectacular show

(As The Marlowe Panto always is!)

Mother Goose!!!

Tis the season!

We were invited along to Nativity by The Marlowe Theatre to review the show
